Utah secured its biggest commitment of the 2027 class thus far as Davis wide receiver Jaxton Itaaehau announced his pledge late on Wednesday night.

Itaaehau, rated a four-star (90) prospect by 247Sports and a three-star (86) prospect by Rivals, was one of the priority targets for Morgan Scalley’s inaugural recruiting class. The Utes landed the local talent over offers from Colorado and North Carolina, among others.

He’s the first four-star talent to sign with the Utes since Morgan Scalley took over as head coach.

The 5-foot-11, 185-pound receiver is ranked as the No. 4 overall prospect in the state of Utah and No. 16 nationwide at the “athlete” spot. Rivals has Itaaehau as the No. 23 overall prospect in the state of Utah and No. 35 nationally at the athlete spot.

Last season for Davis, Itaaehau hauled in 71 receptions for 951 and 11 touchdowns and rushed for 335 yards and five scores while also adding 33 tackles and an interception on defense. He was named to the Deseret News 6A second team after his performance last season.

Utah has built recruiting momentum this week, adding four commitments since Monday. Itaaehau’s pledge brings the Utes’ 2027 class to 16, including five players from the state of Utah.

After Itaaehau’s commitment, Utah ranks No. 9 in the Big 12 in 247Sports’ recruiting rankings and No. 11 in the conference in On3’s recruiting rankings.
