Welterweights lock horns in the marquee matchup, as Gilbert Burns toes the line against Mike Malott in the five-round main event. Meanwhile, MMA Lab standout Kyler Phillips puts former TKO Major League MMA champion Charles Jourdain to the test in the three-round co-headliner at 135 pounds.
Burns, 39, climbs into the cage in a nosedive, having lost four fights in a row. The Kill Cliff Fight Club export last suited up on May 17, when he succumbed to punches from Michael Morales in the first round of their UFC Fight Night 256 encounter. Still ranked in the Top 15 at 170 pounds, Burns holds a 15-9 record in the UFC. On the other side of the ledger, Malott finds himself on a three-fight winning streak. The 34-year-old Canadian last competed at UFC Fight Night 262, where outpointed Kevin Holland to a three-round unanimous decision on Oct. 18. Malott has nailed down 11 of his 13 career victories by knockout, technical knockout or submission.
UFC Fight Night 273 “Burns vs. Malott” also features a women’s flyweight showcase pitting Jasmine Jasudavicius against Karine Silva, a featherweight tilt slotting Dennis Buzukja opposite Marcio Barbosa and a pair of lightweight affairs, as Mandel Nallo meets Jai Hebert and Thiago Moises faces Gauge Young. A middleweight clash between Julien Leblanc and Robert Valentin highlights the undercard, which streams to Paramount+ at 5 p.m. ET/2 p.m. PT.
