Nash Johnson III, a cornerback out of McEachern High School in Powder Springs, Ga., announced Monday that he received an offer from Clemson football. Johnson is listed by 247Sports as a 6-foot, 170-pound cornerback in the 2027 class, giving the Tigers another name to track as their defensive board keeps expanding.
Johnson is rated as a three-star prospect by 247Sports, sitting as the No. 580 overall player in the 2027 class, the No. 58 cornerback nationally and the No. 67 player in Georgia in the 247Sports Composite. On 247Sports‘ own rankings, he is a bit higher at No. 72 among cornerbacks and No. 91 in the state.
This recruitment already has a pretty clear SEC lean on paper. Auburn currently holds the lone 247Sports Crystal Ball prediction, and Auburn is also listed as warm on Johnson’s 247Sports profile. Miami is another warm school, while Tennessee, Ole Miss and Alabama are also in the mix among his top listed programs. On the On3/Rivals prediction side, Auburn is still out front at 33.4 percent, followed by Tennessee, Alabama, Miami and Ole Miss.

That makes Clemson’s offer interesting because the Tigers are jumping into a recruitment where Auburn appears to have early momentum. Still, it is early enough in the 2027 cycle that an offer like this can actually matter. Clemson does not need to flip a finished recruitment right now. It needs to get involved, build the relationship, and see if Johnson becomes a bigger priority as the class develops.
Johnson already has 30 offers listed on 247Sports, so this is not some under the radar player nobody else has found. Clemson joins a crowded race, but the offer gives the Tigers a chance to make their pitch before visits and top school lists start shaping the recruitment more seriously.
Clemson getting involved gives Johnson another major ACC option and gives the Tigers another shot at a rising Georgia corner in the 2027 class.
