After the Bahamas Bowl wasn’t played in 2025 and isn’t currently on the docket in 2026, college football bowl season is set to make its return to the Caribbean this fall.
On Friday, Complete Sports Management and ESPN Events — in collaboration with Discover Puerto Rico — announced that the Puerto Rico Bowl will join an expanded 41-game bowl calendar for the 2026 season. The game will be held at Juan Ramón Loubriel Stadium in Bayamón and will be televised on ESPN.

The game will be held in December, but the exact date and kickoff time are yet to be determined. It will pit a MAC team against another opponent, which has not yet been announced.
The Puerto Rico Bowl will join the Hawaii Bowl as one of two bowl games held outside the continental United States this upcoming season. Unlike the Bahamas Bowl, it will not require players to have passports, as Puerto Rico is a U.S. territory.
The Puerto Rico Bowl will be the first time the island has played host to an NCAA Division I college football game.
