Four-star guard Quincy Wadley picks Oklahoma

The Oklahoma men’s basketball offseason was already going well before Friday. Now, though? The Sooners are looking like an NCAA Tournament type of team.

Coach Porter Moser and his staff picked up the commitment of Class of 2026 guard Quincy Wadley on Friday. The 6-foot-4 shooting guard is a four-star recruit out of Arizona who ranks as the No. 52 player in his class per 247Sports’ composite rankings. Hew as one of the last players in the top 100 in the class who had yet to pick a post-preps destination.

Wadley is also the highest-rated recruit Moser’s landed since he arrived in Norman in 2021 and Oklahoma’s highest period since hometown hero Trae Young chose to play for the Sooners in 2017. He joins wing Gage Mayfield, the No. 76 player in the class, as the two incoming freshmen for next season.

With what OU returns, Moser can afford to ease Wadley into college basketball a bit, in theory. Xzayvier Brown and Dayton Forsythe are the only returning players in the Oklahoma backcourt, but Pop Isaacs and Tyler Hendricks entered from the transfer portal from Texas A&M and Utah Valley State to provide four clear rotational players next season.

The Sooners have made the NCAA Tournament just once since Moser arrived. He was on hot seat during the season after Oklahoma started 1-9 in Southeastern Conference play, but OU finished strong, narrowly missed the Big Dance and ultimately finished second in the College Basketball Crown Tournament.
