If things don’t work out for Brock Rechsteiner and the New Orleans Saints, he’s already got a pretty good backup plan.
Rechsteiner, the son of WWE Hall of Famer Scott Steiner (real name Rechsteiner), signed with the Saints as an undrafted free agent on May 12. The wide receiver out of Jacksonville State has already said he’ll try to follow in his dad’s footsteps to pursue a pro wrestling career should his football career fizzle out.

“I want to pursue football as long as I can, play as long as I can, but once I’m done, I’ll get into wrestling, too,” Rechsteiner said at New Orleans‘ rookie minicamp over the weekend.

Rechsteiner took part in a tryout at the Saints‘ rookie minicamp and impressed enough to earn a spot on their 90-man roster heading into OTAs and mandatory minicamp in the coming weeks.
In three years at Jacksonville State, Rechsteiner played in 37 games and caught 53 passes for 629 yards and seven touchdowns. Last year, he also rushed three times for 17 yards and an additional score.

Rechsteiner is the second member of his family to get a shot in the NFL. His cousin, Bronson Rechsteiner (a.k.a. WWE wrestler Bron Breakker), signed with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent fullback in 2020. Bronson was released in August prior to starting his wrestling career.
Brock now gets the opportunity to join a Saints offense that features Chris Olave and first-round pick Jordyn Tyson as its top two wide receivers.
