Dallas Wings star Arike Ogunbowale called Azzi Fudd the “best shooter in the country” amid the team’s 3-point shooting resurgence. The Wings were second-worst in that category that year, converting only 6.6 shots per game at a 30.4% clip. In 2026, the Wings have averaged 9.1 3-pointers and are converting 37.2% of their attempts, the second-best mark league-wide.
Ogunbowale discussed the team’s improved spacing on Sunday during a media availability session. She credited Fudd’s addition and the criticism surrounding the Wings’ draft strategy for adding another guard.
“A lot of people were like, ‘Oh, do they need another guard …,’ we did need another guard,” Ogunbowale said (via WNBA reporter Melissa Triebwasser). “We got one of the best shooters in the country, I think, the best shooter in the country.”
Arike Ogunbowale also credited herself and Paige Bueckers for their accuracy from range. Meanwhile, she hailed the team’s frontcourt players for spacing the floor from the midrange.

Azzi Fudd is the best volume 3-point shooter on the Wings. She’s converting 46.4% of her shots from range on 4.0 attempts. Paige Bueckers trails her marginally, making 45.7% of her shots from distance on 4.4 attempts.
Arike Ogunbowale takes the most 3s (5.6) but hasn’t been as consistent. She’s 33.3% from beyond the arc this season. Nevertheless, defenses still respect her, so the Wings maintain their spacing despite Ogunbowale’s inefficiency.
Azzi Fudd’s shotmaking prowess has been on full display over the past two games
Azzi Fudd has recorded consecutive 20-point games in her last two outings. She had her breakout moment on May 24 against the New York Liberty with a career-high 24-point night on 9 of 15 shots, including 6 of 12 from 3-point range. Fudd turned the game on its head in the third quarter, scoring 17 points on 5 of 7 shots from deep. The Wings won 91-76 despite trailing at the half.

After making her in-game second-half start count, Fudd earned her first start of the season on Thursday against the Las Vegas Aces. She again delivered, scoring 22 points on 9 of 15 shots and 3 of 5 from 3-point range. The Wings overturned a 13-point deficit to win 95-87. Fudd was instrumental after a 13-point second half, in which she missed only two shots from the field on seven attempts.
The No. 1 pick initially struggled to find a rhythm due to limited minutes and lack of attempts, but since the coaching staff fixed the issue, she’s flourished. Fudd peaking has given the Wings exactly what they needed in tough matchups against the Liberty and Aces, proving they are ready to compete for more than just a playoff spot.
