In the last game against the Fire, Clark played just 22 minutes, while a superstar like her should be on the court, doing what she does best. She is averaging 29.4 minutes thus far, the lowest in her three seasons in the WNBA.

Given White’s track record of developing disciplined, physical defensive techniques in Connecticut, the Fever brought her to work on the team’s defense. Players have deliberately attacked Clark in 1v1 isolation plays, as highlighted by the stats. The loopholes in the defense have cost the team heavily, and the front office might look for other options to improve in that category. Winning a title without playing top-notch defense is almost impossible.
