Eduardo Quintero breaks Great Lakes on-base streak record

Getting on base was the name of the game for two highly-regarded Dodgers outfield prospects on Saturday.

Player of the day

Great Lakes matched their season high with 16 runs, so there were plenty of candidates. But we’ll go with Eduardo Quintero, who has been simmering for quite some time. The top-100 prospect doubled twice, drove in four runs, and stole a base on Saturday.

Quintero got off to a rough start this season, hitting just .195/.305/.280 in April, but he’s been very productive pretty much ever since, hitting .362/.464/.468 since May 1, despite not hitting a home run in that span.

His hit streak is now nine games, and he’s reached base in 31 straight games dating back to April 21, the longest on-base streak in Great Lakes Loons history. Quintero’s on-base streak on Saturday surpassed the previous mark of 30 games, set by Miguel Vargas in 2021 and matched by Mike Sirota this season before getting promoted to Double-A in May.
