The Texas Longhorns added another major piece to their 2027 recruiting class this week, with consensus four-star defensive lineman Kasi Currie committing to Texas over Georgia, Oregon, Ohio State, and others on the CBS Sports College Football YouTube channel Thursday afternoon.
The Chatsworth, CA product is a top-40 player in the 2027 class according to 247Sports, and he is ranked as a top-5 defensive lineman this cycle by the Rivals Industry rankings. He played on both sides of the trenches at Sierra Canyon H.S., but is being recruited at his preferred position of defensive tackle.

247Sports Director of Scouting Andrew Ivins writes that Currie “could be a difference-maker at the point of attack” and “displays favorable get-off as a defender.” Rivals’ Greg Biggins describes the 6-foot-4.5, 330-pound lineman as showing “an ideal combination of size, length and raw power.” Biggins’ scouting report continues that Currie “shows some raw pass rush ability” and is “a fluid mover with great feet and has some nastiness to him.”
Currie will also reunite with former Sierra Canyon teammate Richard Wesley in Austin. Wesley, a five-star prospect in the 2026 class, signed with the Longhorns last year and was one of the nation’s top defensive recruits.
