Trade discussions involving Giannis Antetokounmpo have developed more slowly than many expected, with several teams reportedly remaining cautious about fully engaging with the Milwaukee Bucks.

According to Sam Amick and Eric Nehm of The Athletic, much of that hesitation stems from Milwaukee’s approach before the February trade deadline.

At that time, general manager Jon Horst reportedly invited teams to present offers for Antetokounmpo and indicated a willingness to discuss potential deals.

However, no trade materialized, leading some rival front offices to question whether Milwaukee was genuinely exploring a move or simply gathering information about the market.

As a result, several teams are now seeking greater clarity from the Bucks regarding exactly what type of package they would accept before committing significant resources to negotiations.

Teams are also wary of the potential consequences that can come from involving star players in trade talks.

Executives understand that failed negotiations can create unwanted distractions and strain relationships with players who become the subject of rumors.
