Over the past several months, there has been speculation about trouble within the WNBA’s Indiana Fever, with a lot of that focused on what some feel is a fractured relationship between coach Stephanie White and star player Caitlin Clark.
One particular moment went viral involving Clark and White having a heated discussion on the sidelines during a Fever game. The coach directed rookie guard Raven Johnson to take Clark’s seat in the huddle due to their disagreement.

That led to further rumors that there may be an issue between the coach and player, but they’ve done their best to shut that down multiple times since then.
On Saturday night, the team achieved an 85-75 road win at Connecticut as part of the Commissioner’s Cup, with Clark leading the way with 25 points, five assists, and three rebounds. Following the game, she and White were asked about “reports” suggesting there is some sort of division within the team.

“I think it’s speculation,” Clark told a reporter who asked if she wanted to address the “misleading reports” about Fever issues.

“I don’t think you’re talking about journalism,” White added. “If we’re going to continue to create news from fans on social media or bots on social media, or whatever it may be, then that’s a problem.”
“That’s all we got,” Clark said regarding the matter, as she, White, and teammate Sophie Cunningham stood up and left the postgame media session.
Saturday’s win featured Aliyah Boston achieving another double-double, along with Kelsey Mitchell scoring 19 points. Sophie Cunningham also had a huge contribution off the bench with 11 points, including knocking down three 3-pointers.
Clark also mentioned that the Fever are on a three-game winning streak, suggesting that the team is doing just fine. In addition to defeating the Sun on Saturday night, they’ve also defeated the Chicago Sky and Washington Mystics.

Indiana has gone 4-1 over their last five and currently boasts an 8-5 overall record. They’re currently third in the Eastern Conference and sixth in the WNBA standings.
The team’s ability to function as they are, staging comebacks and winning games, certainly seems to display that everyone is on board with that common goal, and locker-room or off-court issues aren’t the problem that social media makes them out to be.
