Anthony Edwards is pushing back on speculation that he is unhappy in Minnesota, with people close to the Timberwolves star describing the rumors as inaccurate and reaffirming his commitment to the franchise.
According to Christopher Hine of the Minnesota Star Tribune, multiple sources close to Edwards dismissed the idea that the 24-year-old guard is frustrated with the Timberwolves. One source said there was “no truth to any of it,” while another said Edwards and his team view Minnesota as the “ideal” situation.
The comments come during an offseason where NBA rumors have increasingly focused on the league’s top young stars and their long-term situations. Edwards has become the centerpiece of Minnesota’s franchise after helping lead the Timberwolves to multiple deep playoff runs, including a 2026 Western Conference semifinal appearance.
Minnesota finished the 2025-26 regular season with a 49-33 record, earning the No. 6 seed in the Western Conference. The Timberwolves defeated the Denver Nuggets 4-2 in the first round before falling to the San Antonio Spurs 4-2 in the conference semifinals.
Edwards was again the offensive engine for Minnesota, averaging 28.8 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.7 assists in 61 games. He shot 48.9% from the field, 39.9% from three-point range on 8.4 attempts per game, and posted a 57.2% effective field goal percentage.
The All-Star guard’s scoring role expanded while he continued developing as a complete player. Edwards averaged 1.4 steals and 0.8 blocks per game, contributing on both ends of the floor as Minnesota built around his perimeter creation and defensive versatility.
