It’s hard to believe, but college football season is just a few months away. The transfer portal cycle is over, spring ball has come and gone, and a return to Kinnick Stadium is right around the corner.
Before the action can start on the field, Iowa has some business to attend to at the annual Big Ten Media Days in Chicago. This year’s Iowa appearance at Big Ten Media Days will take place on July 28.

Iowa head football coach Kirk Ferentz will speak to the media and share his initial thoughts on the Hawkeyes in 2026. A few players get the chance to join Ferentz every year at Big Ten Media Days to give their perspective on the upcoming season.
The Hawkeyes revealed that defensive back Zach Lutmer, tight end Addison Ostrenga, and linebacker Jayden Montgomery will be in Chicago next month.
Lutmer will be a junior in 2026 and is coming off a breakout 2025 campaign. He had 71 total tackles, seven passes defended, and three interceptions.
Ostrenga will be a sixth-year senior next season. He missed most of last season after getting injured in the Iowa State game.
