ST. JOSEPH, Mo.— The Kansas State Wildcats return to St. Joseph and Civic Arena this winter for the fourth straight year in search for their fourth straight win.
“We have developed a great partnership with Kansas State Women’s Basketball in which we relish and embrace the opportunity to bring this level of competition to downtown St. Joseph,” announced St. Joseph Sports Commission executive director Brett Esely. “In sharing the desire with K-State to find a great, high-level opponent for the game each year, we are extremely excited to welcome Creighton, a program with excellent tradition and a strong fan/alumni base in this region to this year’s matchup!”

K-State continues to dominate the event with the Wildcats beating Mizzou and Middle Tennessee by 20-plus points in the event’s first and second years, respectively. With northwest Missouri native and K-State Women’s Basketball all time assist leader Serena Sundell starring in both games.
However, last year’s game shied away from K-State domination and resulted in an instant classic with the Wildcats upsetting No. 13 Ole Miss in a score of 61-60.
Both programs have seen recent success with Kansas State playing postseason basketball for the past five seasons. They’re led by four returning starters and Missouri Western’s very own Hall of Fame coach Jeff Mittie. Creighton, on the other hand, returns three starters, seven players and has made the NCAA tournament in four of the last five seasons.
Tipoff is set for Saturday, Dec. 12th at 5 p.m. with tickets going on sale in mid-July. Previous ticket buyers have the opportunity to participate in a presale. For more information, visit stjomosports.com.
