Conor McGregor’s rise to a UFC title wasn’t an easy one.
McGregor, a former two-division UFC champion, won his first undisputed UFC title after six wins in the octagon – during which he had to battle major injuries. Back in 2013 at UFC Fight Night 26, McGregor tore his ACL mid-fight against Max Holloway. The Irishman, primarily known for his striking, had to rely on his grappling and outwrestled Holloway to win a unanimous decision. It was McGregor’s second fight in the UFC.

McGregor (22-6 MMA, 10-4 UFC) returns to action on July 11 in the main event of UFC 329 in Las Vegas. He rematches Holloway (27-9 MMA, 23-9 UFC), but this time in a welterweight bout. This marks McGregor’s first fight since suffering a nasty leg break in his loss against Dustin Poirier in 2021.
