Rutgers women’s basketball has accepted an invitation to represent the university and America as a whole at the fourth FISU America Games in Lima, Peru.
The FISU America Games are a premier multi-sport event for university athletes across the Americas, held in Lima, Peru, from July 218to August 1, 2026. This event gathers student-athletes from over 20 nations across North, Central, and South America to compete in several different types of sports.

Rutgers women’s basketball players will be among over 300 student-athletes representing the United States across 15 different sports.
Rutgers women’s basketball head coach Gary Redus believes that this international event means more than just representing the university and the country on the national stage; it means an opportunity for his newly built team to gel on the court during a live game against good international competition before the season starts up in the fall.
“This trip is about much more than the games we’ll play in Peru. It’s an opportunity to accelerate our growth as a team heading into the 2026-27 season. We’ll have the chance to compete against quality international competition, build chemistry, and continue establishing our identity and the standard we’ve been working toward so far this summer. Those experiences are invaluable this time of year, and they’ll help prepare us for the upcoming season,” Redus said in a press release on ScarletKnights.com.
Having experience playing on the same court together could prove useful come the fall, because as of right now, many of the players on the roster don’t have experience playing with one another.

“We’re excited to represent Rutgers and the United States, but we’re also focused on using every practice, every game and every moment together to become the best team we can be,” Redus said.
The event will be hosted in Lima’s National Sports Village, the same group of venues that hosted the 2019 Pan American Games.
