Quillan Salkilld is taking another step up – this time into a headlining slot.
At UFC Fight Night 284, Salkilld (12-1 MMA, 5-0 UFC) will take on perennial lightweight contender Mateusz Gamrot (26-4 MMA, 9-4 UFC) in a five-round bout at Meta APEX in Las Vegas, the promotion announced Thursday.

Salkilld, 26, is one of the promotion’s brightest rising lightweight stars. He’s shown a diverse and destructive skill set. In less than two years under contract with the UFC, Salkilld has defeated Anshul Jubli, Yanal Ashmouz, Nasrat Haqparast, Jamie Mullarkey, and most recently, Beneil Dariush.
Gamrot, 35, remains one of the most difficult outs in a deep division. He’s 5-2 in his most recent seven bouts with losses to Dan Hooker and Charles Oliveira. He most recently competed in April when he finished Esteban Ribovics in under two rounds’ time.
