Saint Francis’ Skylar Wicks Chooses Gonzaga, Awaits Eligibility Outcome

by

The Gonzaga Bulldogs have landed their second commitment in the last week, but this one doesn’t come from overseas. Instead, the coaching staff went back to the dwindling NCAA transfer portal for one more look around.

Per 247Sports’ Dushawn London, Saint Francis Red Flash senior Skylar Wicks has announced his commitment to coach Mark Few’s program with just five months left until the start of the upcoming season. He’s a 6-6 hybrid wing who can play above the rim, as well as hit the three.

During the 2025-26 season, Wicks averaged 17.8 points on a 41.0 field goal percentage/36.3 three-point percentage/72.5 free throw percentage in the Northeast Conference. He also chipped in 6.7 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.4 steals in 28 starts.

The 26-year-old has been all over the place throughout his collegiate career:

Missouri State Bears (2020-21)

Redshirt season (2021-22)

State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (2022-23)

Incarnate Word Cardinals (2023-24)

UTSA Roadrunners (2024-25)

Saint Francis Red Flash (2025-26)

Wicks will need a waiver granted by the NCAA in order to play next season due to the new five-year eligibility rule change. For those who are unaware, the Division I Cabinet unanimously voted in favor of giving athletes five years to play five seasons. The athletes’ eligibility clock would start when they enroll in college or turn 19 (whichever comes first). This also would mean no more redshirts, with a few exceptions for waivers.

Gonzaga’s 2026-27 roster now has 14 of the 15 roster spots potentially filled.

6-4 sophomore point guard Mario Saint-Supery

6-6 sophomore guard/wing Isiah Harwell (Houston Cougars transfer)

6-7 sophomore wing Davis Fogle

6-10 redshirt senior forward Braden Huff

7-1 sophomore center Massamba Diop (Arizona State Sun Devils transfer)

6-3 senior point guard Nathan De Sousa (France’s Cholet Basket)

6-6 true freshman combo guard Juwan Ekanga-Ehawa (France’s JL Bourg)

6-9 redshirt freshman forward Parker Jefferson

*6-10 forward/center Izan Almansa (Spain’s Real Madrid)

*6-6 senior wing Skylar Wicks (Saint Francis Red Flash transfer)

6-5 four-star wing Luca Foster (2026 high school recruiting class)

6-11 four-star center Sam Funches (2026 high school recruiting class)

6-5 walk-on wing Carter Nilson (2026 high school recruiting class)

5-11 walk-on redshirt freshman guard Alonzo Metz

*Needs NCAA to approve college eligibility

Last season’s roster in Spokane, Washington, only had 14 players show up in the box scores, 10 of whom performed at least 15 minutes per contest.

The above could end up being the final group of guys for next season, with some backup plans ready to put into place just in case either Almansa and/or Wicks don’t end up receiving eligibility from the NCAA.
