Caitlin Clark is facing a $1,000 fine from the WNBA after picking up her sixth technical foul of the season.
The Indiana Fever star picked up the tech less than two minutes into Saturday’s game against the New York Liberty. The play in question saw Clark make hard contact with Liberty center Jonquel Jones on a screen while she was tailing Marine Johannes on defense.

Johannes proceeded to make a deep 3-pointer, while Clark complained to the official about the alleged no-call. The CBS broadcast described the play as a legal screen, as Jones had established position when Clark arrived.
If Clark picks up another tech, it will be one more $1,000 fine. If she picks up her eighth tech, she will be automatically suspended one game by the WNBA, as well as pick up a $1,500 fine. Given the raise she picked up during the offseason via the league’s new CBA, those figures are a bit less impactful than in years past.
Clark is now tied with Phoenix Mercury star Kahleah Copper for the second-most techs in the WNBA. Only Angel Reese has more, with seven. No player outside of that trio has more than four.

This tech came a day after the most productive game of Clark’s career. Not only did she set a new career high with 45 points in a win over the Seattle Storm on Saturday, she also became the first player in WNBA history to post at least 40 points and 10 rebounds in a single game.
