It’s only been two months since NASCAR icon Kyle Busch passed away and while his family is still grieving, they are still getting on with their lives. This week was a special one for Busch’s 11-year-old son Brexton though.
On Friday, Brexton competed in dirt track races at Oklahoma’s Port City Raceway. He wound up winning his race, marking his first win since his father’s passing on May 21.

Taking to Instagram, Busch’s widow Samantha Busch said that the moment made her feel “proud” and “heartbroken at the same time. She praised her son for his determination, resilience and dedication to racing, and admitted that he makes her think of Kyle while he races.
“First win since losing Kyle. I’ve never felt so proud and so heartbroken at the same time,” Samantha Busch wrote.
“Brexton continues to amaze me with his determination, his resilience, the way he keeps showing up to do what he loves even while carrying so much at such a young age.

“Watching him celebrate all I could think about was Kyle. There was nothing that made him happier than watching Brex race, spending the day tinkering on his car and then being the first one sprinting to Victory Lane with that huge grin on his face.
“I used to tell Kyle during all the late nights, roadtrips and chaos of long weekends at the track that one day when we were 80 we’d look back and say, “Those were the best days of our lives.”
