The Syracuse women’s basketball program has confirmed its second opponent for the upcoming regular season.
As noted on Tuesday, Syracuse will take on LeMoyne, who also plays in Syracuse. The Dolphins recently moved from Division II to Division I and the Orange will travel to Savage Arena, home of the Dolphins for the matchup, making them the road team in their own home city.

Syracuse holds a 3-0 all-time record against Le Moyne. However the two schools have not met in a regular season game in more than 50 years. The most recent matchup between the schools happened in 1973.
The Dolphins finished 12-21 in the 2025-26 season. Last season, the Dolphins lost in their conference tournament semifinal and failed to reach the NCAA Tournament. Syracuse, of course, reached the NCAA Tournament, winning one game and then losing to UConn in the Round of 32.
The Dolphins’ athletic programs officially transitioned from the Division II level to the Division I level in July 2023.
In the past, larger schools would pay smaller schools to be the visiting team for regular season games. According to Syracuse.com’s Chris Carlson, the Orange and Dolphins women’s basketball programs have agreed to a home and home series over the next two seasons. The Orange will visit LeMoyne this season, while in 2027-28, Syracuse will host the Dolphins.

LeMoyne is one of three matchups that have already been confirmed for the upcoming season:
–The women’s program announced last month a preseason matchup with UConn. Find out why this exhibition game could be the most important game of the season for the Orange
–As a part of the ACC/SEC Challenge, the Orange will host Oklahoma on Dec. 3
–The Orange will compete as a member of the ACC again this season. The dates and times of other games, including conference and non-conference opponents, have still yet to be confirmed.
Syracuse will return Uche Izoje, who won the ACC Rookie of the Year last season and helped the Orange to that NCAA Tournament win.

The team has added multiple transfers including: Sarah Rambus (Oregon) Tyi Skinner- (SMU,) Jaleesa Molina (Temple), and Emely Rodriguez (Iowa)
This season’s roster features two international prospects as well: Elif Cayir hails from Turkey while Celaine Ricco is a newly signed player from France.
Madison Howard and Destiny Robinson are the two high school players who are set to make their collegiate debut this season.
