The heat is turning up in the recruitment for several 2028 prospects, and the Oregon Ducks are gearing up for another battle within the conference and along the West Coast.
2028 four-star cornerback Ca’ron Williams doesn’t have a timeline for a commitment yet, and the odds are his decision is not coming any time soon. However, the contenders in the race for the corner from Moreno Valley, California, are starting to become clear, and the Ducks are in the thick of it.

Among the interested programs, Oregon, Miami, LSU, USC and Ohio State have the most steam right now. The Trojans are the perceived favorites and got him on campus this summer, but it does appear that Williams will go through the entire process and take official visits before making a decision.
Rivals’ Adam Gorney believes that the Ducks, however, are surging in Williams’ recruitment and could quickly make a move to the top of his list. Gorney mentioned a recent visit to Eugene led to a strong connection with Oregon cornerbacks coach Rashad Wadood, and the Ducks entrenched their spot on his radar.
“It’s kind of even right now, but I’d say Oregon,” Williams told Rivals about the team to watch in his recruitment. “It’s great up there, the new facility, the coaching staff is on me and I just loved it up there.”
The 6-foot corner also took a visit to LSU recently, so the Ducks are not the only program making up ground. However, this certainly has the makings for another battle between Oregon and USC, which has become a fierce recruiting battle in recent years for California products.

The Trojans had some success against the Ducks in the 2027 recruiting cycle, flipping four-star offensive tackle Drew Fielder and earning commitments from four-star corner Danny Lang and five-star athlete Honor Fa’alave-Johnson. Still, Oregon has had more success on the field, winning four straight against USC.
Oregon has made a considerable push for several top recruits in the 2028 class. The Ducks could wind up in battle against multiple familiar foes, including USC, on the recruiting trail.
