Caitlin Clark declines WNBA 3-point contest, leaving top Fever shooters out of this All-Star event

INDIANAPOLIS — Despite three players shooting over 40% beyond the arc so far this season, the Indiana Fever will not have any representatives in the WNBA All-Star 3-point contest in Chicago this weekend.

The WNBA announced Tuesday six participants, including 2026 No. 1 pick Azzi Fudd, the Portland Fire‘s Bridget Carleton, Seattle Storm‘s Natisha Hiedeman, Atlanta Dream‘s Rhyne Howard, Toronto Tempo‘s Marina Mabrey and Golden State Valkyries‘ Janelle Salaun.

Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark, along with the New York Liberty‘s Sabrina Ionescu and Minnesota Lynx‘s Kayla McBride, declined an opportunity to compete in the 3-point contest, sources confirmed to IndyStar.

Clark has been a coveted ask for the 3-point contest since she entered the league in 2024, but she has not yet participated in the All-Star Friday night festivities.

She declined her rookie year in 2024 because she said she wanted to rest after a hectic first half of the season, then declined a potential NBA-WNBA crossover 3-point contest at NBA All-Star in February 2025 because, according to ESPN, she wanted her first 3-point contest to be in Indianapolis during WNBA All-Star later that year.

She was originally part of the announced 3-point participants in the 2025 3-point contest during WNBA All-Star in Indianapolis, but she suffered a season-ending groin injury the week before All-Star that forced her to pull out of the competition and the game itself.

Clark is shooting 33.3% from beyond the arc this season. The Fever have three players shooting over 40% from 3-point range this year, including center Aliyah Boston at 46.9%; Sophie Cunningham at 43.7%; and Kelsey Mitchell at 42.3%.

Boston said Tuesday she would not want to do the 3-point contest, even if asked, but Cunningham said Sunday that she would have been open to it.
