Players: Both teams are led by former NBA players. Michael Beasley, who started at Kansas State, was one of the best in Wildcats history. After one season in Manhattan, he was the No. 2 pick the Miami Heat in the 2008 NBA Draft, one spot behind Derrick Rose (Chicago Bulls). Beasley averaged 12.4 points during his NBA career, playing for the Los Angeles Lakers, Minnesota Timberwolves and had two stints with the Heat. He was recently named one of the top 10 athletes to play in the state of Kansas.
JHX is led by ex-Kansas Jayhawks guard Mario Chalmers. He led the Jayhawks to the NCAA title in 2008, hitting an iconic 3-pointer in an upset of the Memphis Tigers, who were led by Rose. After finishing college, Chalmers was a second-round pick by the Heat. He was the starting point guard on NBA championship teams in 2012 and 2013. He played alongside LeBron James, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade in what is considered one of the greatest teams in league history.
