The 2026 WNBA All-Star Weekend in under way in Chicago, IL. On Friday, as part of weekend festivities, the league hosted events at the newly opened Obama Presidential Center, and President Obama himself made a surprise appearance.
All-Star starter Caitlin Clark, whose Fever squad had won three games in a row heading into All-Star Weekend, spoke about her experience meeting Obama.

“When he walked through the door, which was super cool and awesome. And honestly, I think just complimenting me for the way I handle everything, obviously with everything going on,” she said.
Obama is certainly right about how well Clark is handling all of the pressure that comes with being the most popular player in the league. In a recent win over the Seattle Storm, the point guard scored 45 points and dished 10 assists.
However, despite her scoring prowess, Clark’s peers neglected to mention her as a candidate to break the league’s 53-point single-game scoring record.
“They can keep playing their games.”
WNBA fans on social media were outraged that Clark wasn’t mentioned along with some of the league’s other top scorers.

“Not a single mention of CC when she just dropped 45 in less than 30 minutes on a minute restriction. The league really does hate her,” one fan posted on X.
“Y’all know CC is going to blow the doors off that record. But they can keep playing their games,” someone else added.
“This is so nauseating. She just had 45 the other night,” another fan added.
Clark is without a doubt one of the best scorers in the league, but the truth is that with how much of her game is centered on getting her teammates great looks, scoring more than 53 points might not be in the cards. Then again, betting against number 22 is never a great idea.
