Maccabi Tel Aviv has locked in one of its core players, announcing a three-year contract extension for Gabriel “Iffe” Lundberg.
The 31-year-old Danish guard emerged as one of the team’s leaders under head coach Oded Kattash and helped Maccabi win both domestic titles last season.
He was named Israeli League Finals MVP after averaging 17.5 points and 4.0 assists in the championship series.
“I am beyond excited to continue this journey with Maccabi,” Lundberg said. “Together with the club and coach Oded, this is the place where I can fulfill my full potential and help our team in the best possible way. This is a great opportunity to play and compete for the EuroLeague title.”
Lundberg also averaged 11.0 points and 3.6 assists in EuroLeague play.
“The signing of Iffe Lundberg further strengthens the principle of continuity that has guided us throughout,” club chairman Shimon Mizrahi said.
“We are very happy that Iffe is staying with us,” Kattash added. “He is a highly experienced leader who has connected very well with the staff and the team. This is another important part of maintaining the continuity of our roster.”
Born in Copenhagen, Lundberg started his professional career in Denmark before winning a league title with Horsens IC in 2016.
He later played for Manresa, Zielona Gora and CSKA Moscow before becoming the first Danish player to appear in the NBA with the Phoenix Suns in 2022.
After a brief NBA stint, he spent two seasons with Virtus Bologna and then played for Partizan Belgrade in 2024-25, helping the Serbian club win the ABA League championship before joining Maccabi.
