MLB is bringing back the Field of Dreams Game for the first time since 2022.
It was first held in 2021 at the Field of Dreams in Dyersville, Iowa. The ballpark is an updated version of the one built in the 1989 movie “Field of Dreams,” including the corn standing in the outfield.

Hype for the first iteration of the game grew from the opening moments of the broadcast in 2021. Kevin Costner walked out of the corn holding a baseball and looked around the stadium, followed by players from the Chicago White Sox and New York Yankees emerging from the corn, just like in the movie.
MLB held the game again in 2022 between the Chicago Cubs and the Cincinnati Reds, but then didn’t hold it for the last three seasons.
The game used to be broadcast on Fox, but now Netflix has picked it up and is bringing it back on Thursday, August 13, as the Philadelphia Phillies take on the Minnesota Twins.

This year’s Field of Dreams game will be held on Thursday, August 13. First pitch is set for 7:30 p.m. ET.
Who is playing in the 2026 Field of Dreams game?
The Philadelphia Phillies and the Minnesota Twins, with the Twins serving as the home team. Costner is also set to be in attendance.
Who will the starting pitchers be?
The projected matchup will see Philadelphia start Aaron Nola, while Minnesota counters with Taj Bradley, but that is subject to change.
Nola enters with a 3-9 record and a 5.47 ERA. Even though he has struggled on the mound, he has tallied 129 strikeouts this season, the 28th most in the league.

Bradley has fared better in his first full season with the Twins. He has a 9-4 record with a 3.76 ERA. Bradley has struck out 148 batters in 131 2/3 innings of work.
How to watch the 2026 Field of Dreams game
Netflix will be the only way to catch this year’s Field of Dreams game. The streaming service expanded its broadcasts this season, picking up a game at the start of the season and the 2026 Home Run Derby.
How many Field of Dreams Games have there been?
There have been two Field of Dreams Games so far, and this will be the third.
In 2021, the White Sox beat the Yankees 9-8 as Tim Anderson launched a walk-off home run into the corn, capping off a wild game.

The following season, the Cubs beat the Reds 4-2, but that game is more known for another moment, when Ken Griffey Jr. and Sr. emerged from the corn and played catch in the outfield.
What is ‘Field of Dreams?’
“Field of Dreams” was a movie released in 1989. It starred Costner as Ray Kinsella, who lived on a farm that had corn, but his family was struggling with money and was contemplating selling the farm.
One day, when Kinsella was out in the corn, he started hearing a voice saying the now-iconic line, “if you build it, he will come.” Kinsella builds a baseball field out of the corn, from which the ghost of Shoeless Joe Jackson emerges. Kinsella interacts with him, playing catch and even throwing him batting practice, and then goes on a quest after hearing more messages from the voices and more ghosts show up from the corn.
It is a favorite movie among baseball fans, and includes another classic line where Jackson asks, “Is this heaven?” and Kinsella replies, “No, this is Iowa.”
