Indiana football‘s already formidable defense got a huge boost last week with Stephen Daley and Kellan Wyatt, members of the Hoosier defensive line in 2025, announced their returns to the roster ahead of the 2026 season for fifth seasons of eligibility.
Both Daley and Wyatt’s 2025 seasons came to a close due to injury. Daley stepped in for Wyatt following an injury the latter sustained against Michigan State before falling to injury himself during celebrations following Indiana‘s Big Ten Championship Game win over Ohio State.

Given each’s injury, Indiana head coach Curt Cignetti was asked about their status in Fall camp during a press conference on Monday with a particular emphasis on Wyatt. Here’s his full quote in response:
“I think Daley will be ready to take some eleven-on-eleven reps next week with Wyatt a little bit behind him, and we’re not rushing either,” Cignetti said. “Both of ’em were really good players for us. Kellan Wyatt was playing really good football when he got hurt and Stephen Daley really emerged big-time. So it gives those guys an opportunity to finish what they started, they didn’t get that opportunity last year because of injury and it makes us a better football team.”
