Former North Carolina guard Seth Trimble has committed to Louisville, according to multiple reports. The Tar Heels standout gives the Cardinals another high-profile transfer next season.

The 6-foot-3, 200-pound guard considered returning to North Carolina, but ultimately was looking to play elsewhere, dealing a huge blow to Michael Malone and his staff. Trimble averaged 14.0 points and 3.0 assists per game for UNC last season and scored 971 career points in 126 games over four seasons for the Tar Heels under Hubert Davis.
What makes this move interesting is Trimble heads to an ACC foe, along with the fifth-year talent already experiencing a taste of the NBA. He played in five Summer League games for the Washington Wizards, averaging 10.8 points and 4.0 rebounds. But he didn’t sign an NBA contract, which allowed him to be cleared for a return to college.
The Cardinals have done an outstanding job stacking up transfer players. Thanks to the Colorado district court ruling that gave the class of 2022 high school players an extra year, Trimble pushed Louisville into the top spot, according to 247Sports.
The NCAA has pushed back hard against the ruling, but there’s likely no legal argument left to present here. There have been players before Trimble in the 2022 class who were granted an extra year, meaning they set a precedent. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit will need to uphold the injunction and deny the NCAA at this point.

Trimble joins Louisville’s loaded transfer class that includes Kansas’ Flory Bidunga, Iowa’s Alvaro Folgueiras, Oregon’s Jackson Shelstad, Arkansas’ Karter Knox, Dayton’s De’Shayne Montgomery and USC’s Gabe Dynes.
The UNC dropout was No. 30 in the nation coming out of Menomonee Falls (Wisconsin) in 2022. He is now one of six blue-chip players on Louisville’s roster under Pat Kelsey heading into the 2026-27 season.
