Louisville could have yet another top transfer on board this coming men’s basketball season.
Former North Carolina guard Seth Trimble tells ESPN he has committed to play for the Cardinals if he’s allowed a fifth year of eligibility. Trimble, who averaged 14.0 points and 3.0 assists per game for the Tar Heels last season, is one of the high school Class of 2022 members a Colorado district court granted a fifth year following the NCAA’s adoption of an age-based eligibility model.

The NCAA has strongly opposed the court’s ruling and has filed a request with the 10th Circuit of the U.S. Court of Appeals to reverse it.
Trimble, a 6-3 guard, entered the transfer portal this spring, and later played five games for the Washington Wizards in the Las Vegas Summer League, where he averaged 10.8 points and four rebounds per contest. However, he didn’t sign an NBA contract, making him eligible to return to college under the Colorado ruling.

If he’s declared eligible, Trimble will join an incoming group for Cardinals coach Pat Kelsey that already includes two of the top 15 players in USA TODAY Sports’ college basketball transfer player rankings, center Flory Bidunga and guard Jackson Shelstad.
