Jon Jones was not surprised to see Daniel Cormier snub him once again.
Cormier insists that Jones, a fellow former UFC two-division champion, cannot be considered the greatest of all time due to his past history of performance enhancers and failed drug tests. Instead, he named former undefeated UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov No. 1 for never making a mistake – even though he retired prematurely.

Jones (28-1 MMA, 22-1 UFC), whose lone-career blemish came by disqualification against Matt Hamill in a 2009 fight he was dominating, clapped back at Cormier’s comments (h/t Championship Rounds).
“I started in the UFC so early that I didn’t even know what the rules were,” Jones wrote. “The night I fought Matt was the first night I had ever even heard the term ’12-to-6.’ Literally, my entire career has been in the main event, fighting for a world title. My brother, Daniel Cormier, your jealousy runs so deep through your blood. I honestly pray that the good Lord heals you from your envy and that, one day, you won’t feel the need to do interviews like this. Until then, it’s flattering to see the passion you have when it comes to me.”
Jones and Cormier are two of the biggest rivals in UFC history. They competed twice in light heavyweight title fights, with Jones becoming the first fighter to beat Cormier in MMA at UFC 182. He went on to knock him out in their rematch at UFC 214, but the result was later overturned to a no contest when Jones tested positive for a turinabol metabolite.
