Much of the chatter around the WNBA right now is not focused on the on-court action, but rather on the debate about transgender athletes competing in the sport.
Enes Kanter and Royce White have already declared for the 2027 draft, while Kanter also recently suggested that two more former NBA players could potentially declare as well if the WNBA does not change their rules.

At present, the league’s rules say ‘Only players who are women are eligible to play in the WNBA’. But they do not define what a woman is.
Amid Kanter and White declaring for the draft and Sophie Cunningham speaking out about protecting girls from ‘biological males’, the debate has become pretty heated on both sides.
Now, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has weighed in on the situation after attending Indiana Fever‘s latest game.

Paxton attended the game with his daughter and took to X/Twitter to comment on transgender athletes competing in women’s sports.
He stated: “As a dad of female athletes I’ll fight to keep men out of women’s sports.
“Proud to be repping xx-xy with my daughter tonight.”
Two WNBA fans were recently told to cover up their aforementioned XX-XY shirts at another Fever game, which sparked some backlash.
However, the league put out a statement after that incident to say that should not have happened.
XX-XY Athletics founder Jennifer Sey then commented on the WNBA this week and suggested that they are stuck in the past and have a non-basketball-related agenda.
