Angel Reese makes WNBA history with a record that will be tough to top

by

The 2026 WNBA season has brought several notable record-breaking showings from players across the league, including Kelsey Mitchell’s stellar run of consecutive 20-point games. Angel Reese broke another WNBA single-season record on Thursday night during the Atlanta Dream‘s 36-point victory over the Los Angeles Sparks. However, the record she broke was actually her own.

With four offensive rebounds in the game, her season tally jumped to 173, surpassing the 172 he totaled during the 2024 WNBA season.

Considering the Dream still has eight games remaining in the regular season, Reece could potentially put that record into a territory that’ll make it hard for anyone to top it in the foreseeable future. Considering the previous high-mark before 2004 was held by Yolanda Griffith in the 2001 season, Reese’s ability to stay active on the offensive glass is obviously something we haven’t seen in the WNBA in the years prior to her arrival.
