Angel Reese continues to make rebounding history, and the only player standing between the Atlanta Dream star and another WNBA record is Reese herself. Reese became the second-fastest player in league history to collect at least 400 rebounds in a single season during Atlanta’s 97-82 victory over the Las Vegas Aces on Tuesday. She reached the milestone in her 34th game of the 2026 season.

The record belongs to Reese, who secured her 400th rebound in only 32 games during her historic rookie season with the Chicago Sky in 2024. That means the two fastest 400-rebound seasons in WNBA history belong to the same player.
Reese did much more than chase a milestone against Las Vegas. She finished with 21 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and four steals in 39 minutes, helping Atlanta improve to 22-13. She shot 6-for-13 from the field, made her only 3-point attempt and converted eight of nine free throws. ESPN reported that it was her league-leading 24th double-double of the season.
Angel Reese owns the glass again
Reese’s 400th rebound offered another reminder of how quickly she has separated herself from nearly every other rebounder in WNBA history. The former LSU star entered the league with questions surrounding how her game would translate against bigger and more experienced frontcourt players. She answered those questions almost immediately.
Reese averaged 13.1 rebounds as a rookie and became the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 400 rebounds, accomplishing the feat in 32 games. She finished that season with 446 boards despite appearing in only 34 games. After another dominant rebounding season in 2025, Reese was traded from Chicago to Atlanta in April. The Dream sent their 2027 and 2028 first-round picks to the Sky while also acquiring the right to swap second-round selections in 2028.

The significant price has looked justified. Reese is averaging approximately 12 rebounds per game in 2026 and has helped turn Atlanta into one of the Eastern Conference’s strongest teams. Her offensive game also has expanded, with the 24-year-old averaging nearly 16 points while continuing to control the paint.

Reese turns Atlanta trade into a winning move
Tuesday’s performance was especially important after Atlanta suffered a painful 95-91 overtime loss to Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever on Sunday. Reese recorded 15 points, 14 rebounds and six assists in that game, but missed a potential game-winning putback at the end of regulation. Two nights later, she responded with an efficient 21-point double-double against one of the league’s top teams.

Rhyne Howard led Atlanta with 23 points, while Reese’s work on both ends helped the Dream pull away for a convincing road win. Her four steals matched her scoring and rebounding production with another display of defensive activity. Reese also reached 1,000 career rebounds earlier this season, becoming the fastest player in league history to hit that mark. She did it in her 79th career game, surpassing Tina Charles‘ previous record by 10 games, according to ESPN.
Individual records have followed Reese since she entered the league, but the circumstances are different now. She is no longer compiling historic numbers for a struggling Chicago team. Reese is producing at that level for an Atlanta group positioned to make a serious playoff run. Reaching 400 rebounds once is an extraordinary accomplishment. Reese has now done it twice in three seasons, and she owns both of the fastest runs to that milestone.
At this point, Reese is not simply chasing WNBA rebounding history. She is competing against her own records.
