Official visits starting to pay off, Ohio State has now landed their second commitment of the week and another for the defensive secondary. Thanks to Florida native Jaden Carey making his announcement on Wednesday night, the Buckeyes add commitment No. 15 to their 2027 class in a major way.
A 5-foot-11, 175 pound athlete, Carey checks in as the No. 384 player nationally as well as the 42nd best cornerback in the class per the 247Sports Composite. Deciding between Auburn, Miami, and Ohio State, the Buckeyes hosted Carey the first week of June for his official visit, and shortly after his trip the momentum started to roll for Tim Walton is the form of Crystal Ball and RPM predictions.

A recruitment with no drama between the two parties, Carey’s relationship with the staff is nothing but positive, and he made that clear during his announcement. Once in Columbus, Carey will line up for the Buckeyes as a slot cornerback and fills a need this defense wants to take care of in every cycle.
Dipping into St. Thomas Aquinas two times now in this 2027 class, it’s safe to say the pipeline is once again in full effect, and that’s a great place to be for Ohio State’s staff considering the amount of talent they have each year.
The latest to give the coaching staff the good news, here’s to hoping Carey is the next in a long line of summer commitments. BIA just got better.
Buckeyes dish out new offer to 2028 WR
Another day where Ohio State hosted recruits on their campus, Wednesday saw several athletes taking the field for 7-on-7 competitions, and the Buckeyes liked what they saw. Hand picking certain players for their “house” team, the coaching staff is always looking to see who should and could be in Scarlet and Gray at the next level, and that now includes Virginia native Malachi Lee after his impressive performances.

A 6-foot-2, 185 pound athlete, Lee is the No. 38 player nationally and eighth best receiver in the 2028 class per the 247Sports Composite. No stranger to the recruiting process, Lee holds nearly 20 offers and from programs such as Indiana, Notre Dame, Penn State, and plenty of others. The Buckeyes now officially in the mix, it’s a matter of when and not if the other top suitors look to get involved.
From here, look for Cortez Hankton to stay in touch regularly with one of the better position players the 2028 cycles has to offer, and for a return trip to be planned.
In-state prospect receives Ohio State offer
Another impressive performance on Wednesday during Ohio State’s 7-on-7 camp, in-state product Landon Dawson was able to leave campus with his latest offer coming from the Buckeyes. A 6-foot-4, 210 pound tight end prospect, Dawson becomes the latest player at the position to not only earn an offer, but do so in-person with a prime look at what he’s capable of doing on the field.

Landon holds double-digit offers to his name, with Cincinnati, Florida, Indiana, and Miami as some of the bigger programs involved. For Ohio State, having a player that close in proximity is always a plus, and now they’ll do what it takes to make sure he stays at home for the next level of his career.
Sure to see an increase not only in his stock, but also in attention paid his way, Ohio State from here has their next Ohioan to keep at home, and hopefully that’s an easy task for Keenan Bailey as he builds the future of his tight end room.
Quick Hits
Ohio State struck gold when they landed Marvin Harrison Jr., and with his little brother next in line, the Buckeyes are hoping to keep the family bloodlines running through Columbus. A step in the right direction, yesterday Steve Wiltfong predicted Jett Harrison to end up at Ohio State.

The No. 4 player nationally and second best receiver per the 247Sports Composite for the 2028 class, Harrison of course has the Buckeyes in high regard, but this update sheds light into how this recruitment is going. The goal from here is to keep that the case for the long haul.
