The Indiana Fever finally got back in the win column Monday night, but not before tempers flared during a chippy matchup against the Phoenix Mercury. Indiana entered the game looking to snap a two-game skid after consecutive losses to the Atlanta Dream. By the fourth quarter, the Fever appeared well on their way to doing just that, building a comfortable lead over Phoenix. That’s when one of the night’s most talked-about moments unfolded.

With less than eight minutes remaining, Caitlin Clark became tangled up under the basket with former Fever teammate DeWanna Bonner. What started as a routine foul quickly escalated into a heated exchange that involved multiple players from both teams and brought officials together for an extended review.

After sorting through the sequence, referees handed out five technical fouls, including penalties to Clark, Bonner, Sophie Cunningham, Alyssa Thomas and Myisha Hines-Allen.

Bonner’s involvement added another layer to the situation. The veteran forward began the season with Indiana before her brief stint with the franchise came to an end. Monday marked another chapter in what has become one of the more intriguing storylines surrounding the Fever’s season.
