UFC president Dana White went on another long rant about Ian Machado Garry following his performance in the main event of UFC 330.
Machado Garry had a chance to win the UFC welterweight title against Islam Makhachev in the UFC 330 main event, but he came up short as Makhachev won a competitive unanimous decision.

Following that event, White criticized Machado Garry, who White believed was giving Makhachev far too much respect before, during, and after the fight, when he thinks he should have tried to take his head off and win the title, especially in the fifth round of the fight when he was down on the scorecards.
One week later, after UFC Sacramento, White once voiced his displeasure about Machado Garry’s performance at UFC 330, going on a long rant about the Irishman.
Dana White Criticizes Ian Machado Garry Some More
Speaking to the media at the UFC Sacramento post-fight press conference, White once again criticized Machado Garry for his performance against Makhachev at UFC 330.

“You get this opportunity you’ve worked your whole life to get there, and you come out in the fifth round after you’ve done all this great work, which I thought he, I literally said to (UFC CBO) Hunter (Campbell), when the first round started, Islam had him up against the fence and was trying to hold on to him. I said, ‘If this is the game plan for five (expletive) rounds, Islam is going to be in big trouble in the fifth round, in my opinion,'” White said.
“And I thought that Ian Garry did good work leading up to the fifth round, and I assume that was the game plan. And you want to come out and start hugging and shaking hands. Tell him how (expletive) great he is when they’re putting the belt on you. He might not ever have that opportunity again, and probably will never get the opportunity at Islam again, who is going to go down as one of the all-time greats, if not the greatest, by the time he’s done. So, you have five (expletive) minutes. Every second of that round counts. Don’t waste 10 seconds telling this guy you (expletive) love him.
“You either have (killer instinct), or you don’t, in my opinion, or you made the mistake one time, and you won’t do it again. We’ll see how it plays out. Again, I’m not (expletive) on Ian. He’s a classy guy, he’s one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet. But be a (expletive) nice guy when those five minutes are up, then you can be as classy as you want. You have five minutes to try to (expletive) finish one of the greatest of all time and have that belt wrapped around your waist. From then, you can tell Islam you love him and how great he is and shake hands and hug him and take pictures with him, whatever you want to do. You have five (expletive) minutes to win. That was my point.”
What’s Next for Ian Machado Garry?
Based on White’s comments about Machado Garry, it seems clear that the UFC brass is down on the welterweight contender after the Makhachev fight, and now Machado Garry is going to have to work his way back into the good graces of the UFC.

The Irishman is a great fighter, and his 10-2 UFC record shows that, but he blew it against Makhachev, and now he will have to work his way back up to the title by taking out another couple of the top welterweight contenders just to get back to the spot he was just at, one that White believes he took for granted against Makhachev.
