Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham said she had no problem with fans booing her during a victory over Toronto Tempo on Tuesday, Aug. 18, at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto.
“I wanna shout out the Tempo crowd and the city,” Cunningham said postgame. “The crowd was absolutely amazing, and you know, I think that’s what sports is all about. You’re gonna get boos. You’re gonna get cheers, but just the fact that they’re so passionate, they’re loud, and they’re putting on for the city, I think it’s amazing. So shoutout to you guys for coming out and supporting.”

Cunningham finished with 13 points and was 3-for-3 from downtown in the Fever’s 101-95 win over the Tempo. The win matched a franchise record (24) for most wins in a season.
Kelsey Mitchell finished with a game-high 29 points and extended her streak of scoring 20 points or more to 20 games. Caitlin Clark added 24 points, seven assists and three rebounds.
“I wanna give Toronto their flowers. What a great environment for women’s basketball. It’s a hell of a crowd. It’s a lot of fun to play in front of. (Coach) Sandy Brondello’s doing a great job. Marina (Mabrey) and now they have (Brittney) Sykes back. I wanna give them their flowers because they’re a hell of a squad,” Cunningham said during an on-court interview after the game.
The Fever and Cunningham will now travel to Texas to play the Dallas Wings (20-16) on Thursday (8 p.m. ET, Prime Video).
