Caitlin Clark is one technical foul away from picking up an automatic one-game suspension.

The Indiana Fever senses it is inevitable, after Clark was T’d up for taunting Connecticut Sun guard Saniya Rivers in Wednesday’s 125-88 win at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

With her eight tech, Clark will be suspended for a game and slapped with a $1,500 fine; she already has been fined $5,500 based on the WNBA’s revised rules for techs incurred this season.
Fever head coach Stephanie White said Wednesday night that Clark “has awareness” about her tech count, and there is only so much the team can do when she gets her tail up.

” We’ll try to help her when we can, but sometimes we can’t,” White told reporters after the win over Connecticut. “And if she wants to be strategic about which game she doesn’t want to play, then she’ll let ‘er fly.”
Fortunately for White, the Fever has found a winning formula when Clark is unavailable.
Indiana has won all four games it has played without Clark this season, and the Fever reached the WNBA semifinals in 2025 as Clark was sidelined with a season-ending groin strain.
So whenever Clark picks up that eighth technical foul, the Fever will have a plan to win without her.
