Former Clemson basketball star transfers to powerhouse Gonzaga

Chauncey Wiggins will use his additional year of college eligibility at one of the biggest programs in the country.

The former Clemson forward has committed to Gonzaga, according to On3’s Joe Tipton. Wiggins arrives after a breakout season at Florida State, where he developed into a consistent scorer and put together the best numbers of his college career.

Wiggins averaged 13.3 points and 3.9 rebounds across 32 games for the Seminoles in 2025-26. He started 30 times, played nearly 28 minutes per night and made 47.9 percent of his shots. His production from outside was also a major part of his improvement, as he connected on 38.7 percent of his 3-point attempts.

That season included a 31-point performance against SMU on March 7, the highest-scoring game of his career. Wiggins also made his return to Clemson on Feb. 21, helping Florida State pick up a road win while recording seven points, two rebounds, an assist and a steal.

His next move became possible after an injunction granted Wiggins a fifth year of eligibility.

Before his year in Tallahassee, Wiggins spent three seasons with the Tigers and gradually worked his way into a larger role.

He became a regular starter during the 2024-25 campaign, opening 26 of Clemson’s 34 games. Wiggins finished that season averaging 8.3 points and 2.9 rebounds while shooting 43.8 percent overall and 36.5 percent from deep.
