Kansas Reportedly Showing Interest in North Florida Transfer Kamrin Oriol
Kansas basketball’s search for additional roster help may not be limited to the frontcourt.
According to The Portal Report, the Jayhawks are among several programs that have contacted North Florida guard Kamrin Oriol after the recent NCAA eligibility ruling opened the door for another season of college basketball. Kansas joins NC State, SMU, UCF, Appalachian State and Pacific as schools reportedly expressing interest.

Oriol emerged as one of the nation’s top scorers during the 2025-26 season, averaging 20.9 points, 4.3 assists and 3.0 rebounds per game while shooting 48.0% from the field, 40.2% from 3-point range and 88.7% from the free-throw line. His scoring average ranked among the top 20 in Division I despite North Florida finishing 7-25 overall.
The 6-foot-3 combo guard began his collegiate career at NAIA program The Master’s University before transferring to North Florida. After serving in a reserve role during his first Division I season, Oriol developed into one of the Atlantic Sun Conference’s most productive offensive players.
Kansas has two roster spots available entering the 2026-27 season, though that number could shrink depending on the NCAA’s ruling on Serbian center Mihailo Mušikić. Bill Self has also been connected to Michigan State forward Jaxon Kohler and continues monitoring former Jayhawk Melvin Council Jr.’s eligibility case.
While adding another guard may seem unexpected, Self recently indicated the Jayhawks remain open to improving the roster regardless of position.

“Our roster’s not set,” Self said last week. “It may be over, but we’re still investigating different opportunities.”
Oriol’s offensive production would add another experienced scoring option to a Kansas backcourt that already includes Leroy Blyden Jr., Taylen Kinney, Kohl Rosario and Dennis Parker Jr. His ability to create his own shot and stretch the floor could provide additional depth for a team that underwent significant roster turnover this offseason.
Whether Kansas ultimately pursues Oriol more aggressively may depend on how other offseason developments unfold, including pending eligibility decisions and the availability of frontcourt players. Still, the reported contact signals that the Jayhawks are continuing to explore multiple avenues to strengthen the roster before the start of the 2026-27 season.
