Former Kentucky guard Kerr Kriisa has been arrested by the FBI in connection with an alleged multimillion-dollar fraud scheme, Jack Pilgrim of Kentucky Sports Radio reported Saturday. The investigation is tied to his time at West Virginia during the 2023-24 season. The 25-year-old is being held at the Fayette County Detention Center and is expected to be extradited to West Virginia, where a court hearing is scheduled for next week.

The reported allegations date back to Kriisa’s only season with the Mountaineers before he joined the Wildcats for the 2024-25 campaign. No additional details about the alleged fraud scheme have been released.

Kriisa recently signed to play for La Familia, Kentucky’s alumni team competing in The Basketball Tournament later this month. He had also signed with a professional club in his native Estonia before news of the arrest emerged.

During his only season with the Wildcats, Kriisa appeared in nine games before suffering a foot injury that required season-ending surgery. He averaged 4.4 points, 2.4 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game. He recorded a career-high 12 assists against Bucknell, finished with eight points and four assists against Gonzaga, and scored the 1,000th point of his college career in what became his final game at Kentucky.

Kriisa spent six college seasons across four programs: Arizona, West Virginia, Kentucky and Cincinnati. His final college season came with the Bearcats, where he averaged 5.8 points and 3.0 assists in 19 games.

Before transferring, Kriisa played three seasons at Arizona from 2020-23. As a junior in 2022-23, he started 34 of 35 games, averaged 9.9 points and 2.4 rebounds, led the Pac-12 with 5.14 assists per game and tied for the team lead with 83 made three-pointers. He later hit a career-high 11.0 points per game at West Virginia during the 2023-24 season, although that year also included a nine-game suspension for receiving impermissible benefits while at Arizona.

Across 127 career college games, including 106 starts, Kriisa averaged 8.8 points, 2.2 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 28.1 minutes per game.
