How Many Super-Suit Marks Remain in the All-Time Top-25s? (Men’s Edition)

Over the next few months, and particularly late in the summer, the sport’s all-time rankings will undergo their latest shakeup. While a handful of performances generally dent the all-time top-25s during the early and later stages of the year, the summer offers the biggest overhaul of swimming’s hierarchy. This summer, three competitions – Commonwealth Games, European Championships and Pan Pacific Championships – should generate efforts that alter the all-time rankings.

As those rankings await editing, it’s worth noting that dozens of performances from the super-suit era (2008-09) remain in the historical top-25. The 50 freestyle and 200 freestyle lead the way with eight performances each, while the 50 freestyle can count nine performers among its all-time top-25. On the other side, no breaststroke performances – in any distance – remain among the all-time top-25. The same can be said for the 1500 freestyle.

Here is an event-by-event look at how many top-25 men’s performances and performers remain from the super-suit era.
