The Indiana Fever have been at the center of controversy following their game against the Phoenix Mercury on Wednesday.
During the contest, Mercury forward Alyssa Thomas was seen hittingCaitlin Clark in the throat while the Fever guard was down on the floor. No foul was called on the play, but after the WNBA reviewed it, Thomas was hit with a Flagrant 2 foul and a one-game suspension.

Amid the conversations about the physicality against Clark and the inconsistent officiating she has received, however, the Fever shared some good news on Friday.
Despite the issues they are facing, the Fever’s popularity has continued to increase. In fact, they reached a social media milestone by reaching 2 million followers on Facebook.
According to the Fever, they are the first team in the WNBA to have at least 2 million followers on any social media platform. They also made sure to acknowledge the fans who made it possible.

“First WNBA team to reach 2 million followers on any platform,” the Fever wrote. “Shoutout to the best fans in the world.”
Just over a week ago, the Fever also became the first WNBA team to have 1 million followers on TikTok. Before that, they also reached 1 million followers on Instagram, making them the first WNBA team to achieve that milestone as well.
Clark has been a big reason for the Fever’s incredible rise in popularity in recent years, and the team has certainly made the most of it. The Fever have also done a great job of promoting their players, with the likes of Lexie Hull, Aliyah Boston and Sophie Cunningham becoming fan favorites as well.
