Kentucky basketball lands Missouri transfer Mark Mitchell

by

The Kentucky Wildcats have won the Mark Mitchell sweepstakes. The former Missouri Tiger forward committed to Kentucky on Saturday, according to On3’s Joe Tipton.

Mitchell recently received a fifth year of eligibility after a Kentucky court granted him an injunction that gave him another year of eligibility and allowed him to enter the transfer portal. While the NCAA is now allowing players to play five seasons over five years, they did not include 2022 athletes, causing several of them to take them to court.

He is a massive addition for head coach Mark Pope, who has landed seven transfers this offseason. Mitchell was named to the All-SEC Second Team last year after averaging 18.3 points, 3.6 assists, and 5.2 rebounds per game. He shot 54.7% from the field, 38.8% from the 3-point line, and 66.9% from the free-throw line.

Mitchell scored 20 or more points in 14 games last season, including a season-high 32 points in back-to-back games against Arkansas and Kentucky. He also made the All-SEC Third Team after the 2024-25 season, making him one of just the second player in Missouri history to earn All-SEC honors twice in his career.

The 6-foot-9, 230-pounder has played in 134 games during his career, spending two years with the Duke Blue Devils and two with the Tigers. He has averaged 13.2 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.9 assists during his career.
