One of Louisiana‘s top recruits will leave the state, committing to Florida State over an offer from LSU football. Jayden Miles, a four-star running back from Baton Rouge, gave his pledge to the Seminoles on Monday. Along with LSU, Ohio State was also in the race.
Per the Rivals Industry Rankings, Miles is the No. 373 overall-ranked recruit in the 2027 class. He’s the No. 27 running back and No. 13 in the state of Louisiana. 247Sports is the highest on Miles, slotting the rusher No. 15 at his position.

Miles plays high school football at Catholic High in Baton Rouge, a prep school that’s produced a handful of LSU players over the years. The proximity didn’t pay off for the Tigers in this race, though.
Miles commitment to Florida State came a day after LSU secured a pledge from three-star running back Breenen Lacy. LSU feels good about where it stands at the position as the Tigers remain in pursuit of several blue-chip running backs.
A lot can happen between now and signing day. There’s speculation about Florida State head coach Mike Norvell’s job entering 2026, and if FSU decides to make a change, it could affect Miles’ recruitment.
