The Minnesota Lynx will look to avenge their loss from earlier this week as they visit the ailing Chicago Sky on Saturday afternoon.

Chicago is seriously lacking in scoring talent right now, and I’m taking Minnesota to cover in my Lynx vs. Sky predictions.

Let’s break down this afternoon’s matchup with my free WNBA picks for Saturday, May 23.

Lynx vs Sky prediction

Lynx vs Sky best bet: Lynx -1.5 (-120)

The Chicago Sky got off to a great start behind Rickea Jackson (18.0 ppg), but have lost their star forward for the season. That’s a devastating blow for a Sky offense that ranks 10th in the WNBA with a 105.2 offensive rating.

The Minnesota Lynx are allowing only 13.8 points off turnovers, and 11.8 second chance points per game.

With Minnesota averaging 89.4 ppg on the year, Chicago will need offensive firepower to keep up — and without Jackson, the Sky don’t have it.

I’m backing the Lynx to cover, and would bet Minnesota giving up to 4.5 points.

COVERS INTEL:

Jackson ranked 14th in the WNBA with a 28.4% usage rate before her injury took her out of the Chicago lineup.

Lynx vs Sky same-game parlay

Jackson isn’t the only talented scorer missing for tonight’s game. Minnesota is without Napheesa Collier, who averaged 22.9 ppg last year, while Chicago is also waiting on the returns of Courtney Vandersloot, DiJonai Carrington, and Azura Stevens.

With that much talent off the court, I’m taking the Under this afternoon, which these teams also hit in their first meeting this season.

I’m also picking Courtney Williams to hit Over 1.5 threes on Saturday. Williams has now hit three shots from deep in each of her last three games, and is taking on a high-usage role in the Minnesota offense with Collier on the mend.

I’m expecting her to continue firing away from deep, at least under the Lynx are back to full strength.

Lynx vs Sky SGP

  • Courtney Williams Over 1.5 threes made

Lynx vs Sky first basket scorer: Courtney Williams (+800)

The Lynx offense has been well-balanced in the early season, with four players averaging 15+ ppg. But it’s Williams who has been taking the most shots at 15.0 attempts per game, and also shares the lead for field goals made at 6.6 per contest.

Williams is taking 29.2% of all shots for Minnesota early this season, and I see her as a great first basket target at generous +800 odds.
