There is no set timeline for a finalized agreement, but Ben Horney of Front Office Sports indicates a deal could be completed before next season begins.

Unlike MLB, which reached an exclusive agreement with Polymarket, the NBA is considering working with both Kalshi and Polymarket at the same time, similar to the NHL’s model.

The recent MLB-Polymarket deal, reportedly worth up to $300 million over four years, is being viewed across the industry as a benchmark for what future partnerships might look like.

“Everyone sees these dollar signs,” one prediction-market industry executive said.

As discussions continue to progress, NBA executive vice president Scott Kaufman-Ross briefed team presidents on the talks this week.

Additionally, founders from both Kalshi and Polymarket took part in a highly attended panel during the league’s technology summit at All-Star Weekend in February.

Commissioner Adam Silver noted during that event that the NBA is evaluating prediction markets in a similar way to traditional sports betting partnerships.

The league already maintains official betting relationships with DraftKings and FanDuel.

Representatives from the NBA, CFTC, Kalshi and Polymarket declined to comment on the ongoing discussions.
