
Free agent forward Rui Hachimura has agreed to a two-year, $28 million contract with the Los Angeles Clippers, according to ESPN.
Hachimura and his agent, Darren Matsubara of THE•TEAM, reached an early understanding with the Clippers after the start of free agency, with both sides committed to finding a way to complete a deal.
The Clippers initially hoped to acquire Hachimura through a sign-and-trade with the Los Angeles Lakers and waited for their crosstown rivals to finish their offseason moves before pursuing that option.
However, the Lakers ultimately declined to cooperate on a deal.
With a sign-and-trade no longer possible, the Clippers and Hachimura finalized a standard free-agent agreement, allowing the veteran forward to remain in Los Angeles, his preferred destination.
